About me

Dr. Connell studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge where he was awarded a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Physiology) and then the University of Oxford, graduating in 2004 and winning the Margaret Hodge Prize in Clinical Finals. He completed higher specialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in North-West London including at St.Mary's Hospital, where he completed a PhD in Tuberculosis, and also the Royal Brompton Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital, before becoming a Consultant at Ninewells Hospital in 2017.

Dr. Connell is interested in the management of all patients with general respiratory and medical problems, and has a sub-speciality interest in complex lung infections and tuberculosis (TB). He is actively involved in clinical research and guideline-writing on chronic fungal lung diseases, and led the Specialist Advisory Group at the British Thoracic Society (BTS) for Pulmonary Infections from 2019-23. He is now Co-Chair of the Scottish Health Protection Tuberculosis Network and is a Clinical Service Advisor to the BTS MDR-TB Advice Service. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and a PACES examiner.

He is very happy to see all patients with general respiratory and medical problems.
