About me
Dr. Sanjay Bhandari is a highly regarded Consultant Cardiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, based at Glenfield Hospital, with an established private cardiology practice at Spire Nottingham Hospital.
He specialises in the assessment and management of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, blackouts, high blood pressure, cholesterol disorders, coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, cardiomyopathy and heart failure.
Dr. Bhandari is recognised for his expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) and cardiac MRI. He holds full EACVI Level 3 accreditation in cardiac MRI alongside British Society of Echocardiography accreditation in transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography.
Each year, he performs and reports over 400 cardiac MRI scans and more than 400 advanced echocardiography and TOE studies, providing extensive experience in complex cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Bhandari graduated from University of Leicester with First-Class Honours in Medicine and was awarded the prestigious John MacVicar Prize. He later completed a British Heart Foundation-funded PhD in coronary artery disease, was selected as UK Ambassador for the EACVI Heart Imagers of Tomorrow committee, has been awarded Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), and was awarded Doctify Outstanding Patient Experience in 2026.
