About me

I am an accredited (BACP) counsellor for children, young people and adults working in Holywood, Co Down. I work face to face in Holywood with all ages, or online via Teams for clients over 18 years old.

I offer a safe and confidential place to reflect on the difficult feelings or events in your life. We talk about what you want to talk about, at a pace set by you. I aim to provide a nurturing and restorative place for you to build strength, understanding of relationships and events and find new ways to manage and make changes.

I will always adapt how I work according to your age, ability and interests. Counselling with children is likely to be through the medium of play.

Your therapy can be for 6 weeks or a number of months. Short therapy usually focuses on recent or current challenges, longer therapy is likely if you are troubled by past difficulties. We will agree what is right for you when we meet at the start and review at intervals.

Areas of interest

Adults: I have worked with adults privately, and within agency and charity settings with family, work and relationship issues, bereavement/loss and difficult life events.

Children and young people: I have worked for many years with 5-18 year olds privately, in schools and charity settings covering issues such as family/school/friend and relationship changes or difficulties, bereavement/loss, and health challenges. These may have led to heightened anxiety/worries, anger, low self-esteem, sleep issues or low mood. I work systemically, this means I work in partnership with parents/carers, teachers and social/health workers. It is a shared and safe way to support children, with appropriate consent that doesn't compromise the confidentiality of our sessions. The child's voice and wishes remain at the heart of what we do. Therapy for young children is likely to be through the medium of play.

I am a relational counsellor using an integrated psychodynamic and person-centred approach.
