About me
Dr Ahmed is a Consultant Gastroenterologist specialising in digestive (gut) health, as well as liver, pancreas, and bile duct conditions. He is based at Manchester Royal Infirmary, a leading tertiary centre serving patients across the North West of England.
He completed his specialist training in the United Kingdom and undertook advanced fellowship training in hepatobiliary medicine within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He has developed extensive expertise in managing a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, from common digestive symptoms to more complex disorders.
Dr Ahmed is known for a thorough, patient-centred approach. Care is delivered in a clear, supportive, and reassuring manner, ensuring that patients feel comfortable discussing their symptoms and confident in their diagnosis and treatment plan.
A wide range of gut-related symptoms and conditions are assessed and treated, including:
• Abdominal pain and bloating

• Swallowing difficulties
• Changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea or constipation)

Dr Ahmed is highly experienced in endoscopy, performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He is also an advanced independent endoscopist, carrying out complex procedures including ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), which are used to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the pancreas, bile ducts, and digestive system.
He is accredited as a Bowel Cancer Screening specialist in the UK and is a certified endoscopy trainer, contributing to the training of other doctors to maintain high standards of care.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Ahmed is actively involved in research, particularly in pancreatic diseases, and contributes to medical education through his work with The University of Manchester. His research has been published internationally, reflecting a commitment to delivering care informed by the latest evidence and advancements in gastroenterology.
