About me

Dr Samuel Smith is a UK trained Consultant Gastroenterologist with full Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation in upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of gastroenterology and liver disease, with a subspecialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

He completed medical training (MBChB), as well as a degree in psychological medicine (BMedSci (Hons)), at the University of Birmingham in 2009, before going on to complete his higher specialty training in Gastroenterology in 2022 with appointment as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

During his training Dr Smith furthered his sub-speciality interest in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Endoscopy by completing a PhD in �Advanced Endoscopic Techniques in the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract� at the University of Birmingham. Dr Smith has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at international meetings including chairing sessions.

He has worked within secondary and tertiary centres across the West Midlands, including 12 months at the internationally recognised Liver Transplant Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

With this enhanced training and expertise, Dr Smith strives to provide a personalised service and practices the latest evidence based medicine to provide the very best care. He is dedicated to listening to patients concerns, clearly explain the diagnosis, investigations required, and developing a treatment plan.

Outside of his busy medical career, Dr Smith enjoys spending time with his family and friends, keeping active in racquet sports and takes a keen interest in football and cricket.
