About me
Dr. Sohaib Nazir is a Consultant Cardiologist renowned for his expertise in general cardiology, heart failure, cardiac imaging, and cardio-oncology. He holds positions at the Royal Brompton Hospital and King's College London, where he serves as a Clinical Senior Lecturer.
Dr. Nazir's journey in medicine began at Imperial College, London, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with first-class honours in management alongside his medical degree in 2007. Following his junior doctor training at Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, he pursued specialised cardiology training at renowned institutions in London, including Guy's and St Thomas Hospital, King's College Hospital, and St George's Hospital.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical research, Dr. Nazir was awarded a prestigious Medical Research Council clinical research training fellowship in 2016, during which he completed a PhD in advanced imaging for coronary artery disease at King's College London. Subsequently, he received an academic clinical lectureship from the National Institute for Health Research in 2019. His research efforts have resulted in numerous original publications in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences.
Dr. Nazir's clinical expertise covers conditions such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, and cardiovascular risk factor modification. He holds a special interest in heart failure and cardio-oncology, areas in which he has attained accreditation from prestigious societies.
As a pioneer in advanced cardiac imaging, Dr. Nazir is formally accredited in echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT by leading professional bodies. He has also developed novel techniques utilising hybrid PET-MRI imaging, positioning him at the forefront of cutting-edge medical technologies aimed at improving patient care.
In addition to his clinical and research endeavours, Dr. Nazir is dedicated to medical education and training. He supervises fellows and research students at King's College London and has received recognition for his excellence in teaching, including the award for best clinical teacher at St George's University of London in 2015. Furthermore, he plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering educational programs, including serving as the module co-lead for the Clinical Applications of Medical Imaging in the MSc in Healthcare Technologies course at King's College London.
