About me
Hi, I'm Katrina. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a BACP accredited qualified Counsellor, and have been in practice since 2005. I use a Person-Centred approach, which means I put you at the centre, and trust that you will get to the place of change and growth in your life at your own pace. Although it is not about techniques, using our therapeutic relationship, and connection, we can find a solution by helping you find the answers within you. I will get alongside you with warmth and notice with curiosity what you share so you feel truly heard, accepted and start to believe in yourself.
Many people feel worthless and struggle with confidence, often comparing themselves to others and worrying about how they are perceived. It's not uncommon to put the needs of others first, finding it difficult to express your own wishes or to say no. There are times when feelings of overwhelm and anxiety can make it challenging to cope or manage emotions.
At times, this might mean you put yourself down and don't feel good enough, feeling you don't fit in or belong. Carrying guilt and self-doubt can suffocate and chip away at your self-esteem, which can cause low mood, self-hate and impact your family relationships. Counselling can help you process and move past unspoken experiences. It can support you to feel confident in communicating your feelings more assertively, so that others understand your needs making your relationships more fulfilling.
I can help you to challenge your critical thoughts and encourage you to show yourself kindness and lessen the guilt you may be holding. Sometimes just saying your thoughts out loud and naming your feelings can help to make you feel less weighed down, giving you more clarity and a shift in perspective. Counselling can also support you to put new boundaries in place to take care of you.
Counselling is for everyone, not just for those that have reached rock bottom. It is a positive self-care practise for your mental health and to feel better about yourself getting your life back on track. I understand the courage it takes to reach out for support and open up about your feelings, so it's important you find the right therapist. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to see how we might work together. I look forward to connecting with you.
