About me
Dr Emma Searle trained in medicine at the University of Manchester and completed general medical training at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. She gained an MA in Medical Ethics Ethics of Cancer and Palliative Care from Keele University in 2007 and began specialist training in Haematology in the same year. Dr Searle was awarded a Cancer Research UK-AstraZeneca PhD fellowship in 2010 to and on completion of her PhD in 2016, Dr Searle was appointed as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer at the University on Manchester to further develop her research interests alongside completion of clinical training.
Dr Searle was appointed as a consultant haematologist at The Christie Hospital in August 2020. She has a particular interest in the development of new anti-cancer drugs, including as a principle/chief investigator for first in human trials, especially for patients with myeloma, acute myeloid leukaemia and high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome.
Dr Searle is Deputy Chair of the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre Haematology Network Group, deputy chair of the British Society of Haematology Research and Grants Committee and a member of the UK AML Steering Group and UK Myeloma Research Alliance.
In 2022 she was awarded an Early Career Researcher Achievement Award by the NIHR Clinical Research Network and along with her research team was awarded UK AML Research Team of the year in 2023.
