About me
Dr Fletcher has over 27 years experience in Dermatology and has worked as a Consultant Dermatologist since 2003. She was a Consultant Dermatologist at Kingston Hospital for 15 years and was instrumental in establishing the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary service.
Dr Fletcher trained at the world-renowned St John's Institute of Dermatology in London, Guy's and Lewisham Hospitals. She additionally spent 18 months in clinical research, studying the clinical features of fungal nail disease at Guy's Hospital. In 2001 a month long sabbatical was undertaken with a nail expert in Paris.
She has broad-ranging experience in adult and adolescent dermatology and has clinical interests in the following areas:
Skin cancer
Mole checks
Skin cancer screening
Sun damage
Infectious dermatology
Teenage acne, including treatment with Isotretinoin
Dr Fletcher provides generous appointment slots for unhurried, thorough consultations. She likes to work in partnership with her patients for optimal care. She performs minor skin procedures including:
Cryotherapy
Shave excisions
Small elliptical excisions
Curettage and hyfraecation
Diagnostic biopsies
Intralesional steroid injections
Skin, hair and nail sampling for mycology
Bacterial and viral skin swabs
Dermoscopy
Trichoscopy
Please note, Dr Fletcher does not remove cysts or lipomas.
Dr Fletcher uses a GDPR compliant, secure Practice Manager software system, which allows for the storage of clinical images. Dr Fletcher is highly trained and proficient in dermoscopy (the use of a magnified lens and polarised light source to examine the pigment pattern, blood vessels and other structures within skin lesions). Dr Fletcher uses serial stored dermatoscopic images for the monitoring of skin lesions, which is the gold standard for mole monitoring. Dr Fletcher is among a minority of Dermatologists offering this service and expertise.
Dr Fletcher works closely with her Plastic Surgery colleagues. She receives excellent patient and colleague feedback; data collected for revalidation in 2020 showed that 100% of her patients were confident with the care that she provided and were completely happy to see her again.
Dr Fletcher has been a BUPA provider since 2004 and holds BUPA Premier Consultant status. Dr Fletcher adheres to BUPA's schedule of fees.
Dr Fletcher retired from the NHS, after 28yrs of service, in April 2018. She is based at the New Victoria Hospital.
