About me

Mr Somanchi is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement (THR and TKR) surgery.

After completing post-graduate training and obtaining MS(Orth) from India's premier medical institute (PGI, Chandigarh), Mr Somanchi immigrated to the UK in 2001 and pursued further post-graduate training and obtained FRCS (Tr & Orth). He furthered hip and knee arthroplasty surgical skills through fellowships at Maidstone Hospital and Royal Derby Hospital.

Mr Somanchi started his consultant career at Royal Derby Hospital in 2017 and then settled in Manchester as a full-time Consultant in Tameside General Hospital since 2018.

Mr Somanchi has consistently delivered excellent outcomes with care, compassion and patient-centred approach with best available clinical evidence. He strives to improve care by monitoring the surgical outcomes. He regularly receives very good feedback from his patients.

He is also a Clinical Lead for the National Joint Registry (NJR) data quality improvement programme in Tameside General Hospital and has a very good track record of clinical outcomes in the joint registry.

Areas of interest

Mr Somanchi performs hip and knee replacement surgery in the adult population with different surgical complexities.

He also performs arthroscopic surgery of the knee for conditions such as meniscal tears.

He is an expert in managing painful hip and knee conditions such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis.
