Mr Shakir Hussain is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip replacement, knee replacement, hip resurfacing, revision hip replacement, revision knee replacement, complex arthroplasty, and robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery. He is recognised as one of the UK's highest-volume arthroplasty surgeons and has developed a strong reputation for managing complex hip and knee conditions, failed joint replacements, and bone-conserving hip surgery.

Mr Hussain completed specialist orthopaedic training on the Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme and undertook advanced fellowship training in lower limb arthroplasty at leading UK centres, including the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Nottingham and North Bristol NHS Trust. He was awarded the prestigious British Hip Society Travelling Fellowship to the internationally renowned ENDO-Klinik Hamburg, where he gained further expertise in complex revision joint replacement surgery and prosthetic joint infection management.

A recognised specialist in hip resurfacing arthroplasty, Mr Hussain trained under Ronan Treacy, co-designer of the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) implant and one of the world's leading hip resurfacing surgeons. He subsequently succeeded Mr Treacy's practice and continues to provide hip resurfacing surgery for young and active patients seeking a bone-conserving alternative to total hip replacement.

Mr Hussain has been awarded the Doctify Outstanding Patient Experience Award for three consecutive years (2024, 2025 and 2026), reflecting consistently exceptional patient feedback, patient satisfaction, and clinical care.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Hussain serves as Clinical Service Lead (CSL) for the Outpatient Department and Clinical Lead for the Medical Device Advisory Group (MDAG) at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, contributing to clinical governance, innovation, patient safety, and service improvement.

Mr Hussain is actively involved in orthopaedic research, robotic joint replacement innovation, education, and quality improvement. He has published scientific articles, contributed to textbook chapters on hip replacement surgery, and regularly teaches orthopaedic trainees and national training courses.
