About me
Mr Arhi is an experienced Upper Gastrointestinal and General Consultant Surgeon, working at Clementine Churchill, Bishops Wood, Spire Bushey and One HAtfield Hospitals. His NHS practice is based in West Hertfordshire NHS trust. He is committed to providing personalised, compassionate care tailored to each patient's needs.
Following graduation from University College London Medical School in 2006, Mr Arhi completed the FRCS higher surgical training programme with a specialist interest in Upper GI surgery, developing his expertise in renowned London hospitals including Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospital. Post FRCS, he earned a prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England Fellowship in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery, gaining further skills in more complex and specialised procedures. In addition he received a PhD from Imperial College London resulting in a thesis exploring the reasons why some patients experience delays in cancer diagnosis.
His specialist interest focuses on the management of gallstones, reflux disease and hernias. Using minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopic surgery, he offers his patients quicker recovery times, smaller incisions, and less post-operative discomfort.
His surgical repertoire includes laparoscopic cholecystectomies, fundoplications, hiatal hernia repairs and inguinal or abdominal wall hernia repairs. For patients struggling with reflux or upper abdominal pain, Mr. Arhi also offers endoscopy services to better diagnose and manage their conditions. Through the development of his robotic practice, he is able to provide this option for a number of his patients. His clinical practice is backed by robust results and positive patient feedback.
He has published his research in a number of peer reviewed journals, presented at international meetings and has received a number of prizes. His most recent research areas include reflux disease, bariatrics and upper GI surgery.
Since becoming a consultant at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Mr. Arhi has played a pivotal role in improving patient care within the Upper GI department. His leadership has contributed to higher rates of same-day discharge after surgery, and he now serves as Clinical Governance Lead, ensuring that all patients receive the safest and most effective care possible.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Arhi is deeply involved in medical education. He teaches and mentors junior doctors through Royal College of Surgeons-approved courses, helping to shape the next generation of surgeons. He is also a key figure at Brunel Medical School, guiding medical students as they progress through their training.
