About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist offering private individual psychological therapy to adults. I also work part-time in the NHS in a Cancer Psychology service. I qualified in 2005 and over the years have worked in a wide range of settings and with a variety of different difficulties. These include working with people with more severe and enduring mental health problems, inpatient psychiatric units, community mental health teams and with people in mental health crisis.

In recent years I have developed an interest in using psychological ideas in working with people with various physical health problems and with people who may be experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression as a result of what might be called a crisis of meaning, or an 'existential crisis'. For some people these symptoms might be understood as being a form of philosophical or existential Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Linked to this is an interest in working with people who may have a particular fear around becoming ill or dying.

I use a lot of ideas from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my work, whilst drawing on ideas from other models such as existential ideas and ideas from Compassion Focused Therapy. I enjoy working with people to help them develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, whilst also supporting them in building a fulfilling and meaningful life.
