About me
Dr. Basaam Aweid is a Consultant Physician specialising in Geriatric Medicine and Stroke Medicine. He completed his medical degree alongside a Bachelor�s (BSc) degree in Neuroscience at St George�s University of London in 2006. His medical training in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics took place at various Northwest London hospitals, including Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Following a Stroke OOPE (out of programe experient) at Charing Cross Hospital, he has focused on Stroke Medicine and has held the position of Consultant Physician at The Hillingdon Hospital since 2016.
Dr. Aweid is the pioneer of many patient focused initiatives including the highly successful Hillingdon Patient Stroke Forum which he founded in 2016 and continues to run annually.
He currently leads the Stroke Early Supported Discharge service under the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL). In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he holds the role of Medical Director for the Physician Associate MSc program at Brunel Medical School and actively coordinates collaborative projects among the three organisations he is associated with.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Aweid is passionate about education. He serves as an examiner for national exams at the Faculty of Physician Associates for the Royal College of Physicians. He supervises medical students and junior doctors. He recently completed his Medical Education MSc at the Royal College of Physicians with a particular interest in Team Based Learning (TBL).
