About me
Mr Nikesh Dattani is a Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon based at the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. He has trained in some of the highest volume centres in the UK. As a modern endovascular surgeon he routinely utilises minimally invasive techniques and innovative technologies to help enhance the overall experience for his patients. His specialist areas of interest include endovascular procedures to treat peripheral arterial and aortic disease as well as endovenous procedures to treat varicose veins and venous ulcers.
Mr Dattani qualified as a doctor from King's College London in 2008 and went onto undertake surgical training in London, Leicester & the West Midlands. He obtained competitive funding from the Circulation Foundation to undertake his doctoral research (MD) and was awarded his Masters of Research in 2017 and his MD with Distinction in 2018 from the University of Leicester. Mr Dattani was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Vascular Surgery in 2019. He undertook a post-certification fellowship in Newcastle focusing on advanced endovascular skills and complex aortic surgery before being appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in Leicester.
Mr Dattani enjoys training the next generation of surgeons. He is the undergraduate and postgraduate lead for vascular education in Leicester and regularly teaches on a number of national courses (ATLS, BSS, VaLSA). Mr Dattani is actively involved in clinical research: he is an executive committee member of the Vascular & Endovascular Research Network (VERN), which he co-founded in 2013, and is the local Principal Investigator for numerous multicentre randomised controlled trial. He is very well published in the field and has been awarded numerous prizes for his research on both the national and international stage including the Royal Society of Medicine Venous Forum Prize, the British Journal of Surgery Prize from the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Lauder Prize (for best MD) from the University of Leicester.
Mr Dattani serves on a number of committees including as a member of council for the British Society of Endovascular Therapy (BSET) and as a panel member for annual vascular surgical trainee appraisals in the East Midlands.
