About me
I am an experienced Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine at Kingston NHS Trust and New Victoria Hospital, treating the full range of respiratory conditions from asthma and COPD to pleural disorders, sarcoidosis, respiratory infections and sleep apnoea. I am also a specialist in Internal Medicine and treat a wide range of other health issues as well as the impact they have on the lungs. If you're concerned about breathlessness, a cough, or any other respiratory symptom whether new or long-standing I'd be glad to help.
My approach combines up-to-date clinical knowledge with a patient-centred, compassionate style, with the goal of returning you to your best possible lung health. My practice is fully digital, supported by excellent secretarial care, and I use the latest consultation technology to help me listen more closely to my patients understanding the full impact of their symptoms on daily life, not just the clinical picture.
At Kingston, I hold several leadership roles, including Lead for Asthma and Pleural Services, Lead for Respiratory Audits, and Trust Chair of the Medicines Optimisation Committee, keeping me at the forefront of new treatments. I led Kingston's COVID-19 research, including the RECOVERY trial, and continue to advise on the long-term effects of coronavirus.
I trained at London's leading respiratory centres, including the Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, Guy's and St Thomas', and King's College Hospitals, and was awarded a PhD in Respiratory Immunology from King's College London. I advise innovative companies and consortiums bringing digital solutions to patients with lung conditions, including as medical advisor to MultiPulm, an EU Horizon-funded multi-centre study and have a particular interest in the effects of air pollution on lung health. I am experienced in advanced procedures such as bronchoscopy and ultrasound-guided chest drain insertion and now lead training programmes in these techniques for other doctors.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, where I examine doctors in higher specialist exams and a long-standing member of the British and European Respiratory Societies. Within Kingston, Richmond and the surrounding areas, I regularly provide education to GPs, pharmacists and nurses, and led a public webinar on asthma for local patients which is available on YouTube. I'm passionate about improving patient services recognised through national awards and support patient safety initiatives and training for doctors in training.
When you come to see me, you can expect more than a diagnosis: you'll be listened to, understood, and given a clear plan built around your life, not just your lungs. My aim is that you leave feeling reassured, informed, and confident that your health is in expert, caring hands.
