About me

Mr Jitesh Parmar is a Consultant Laparoscopic Bariatric & UGI Surgeon. His areas of expertise include � laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, Weight loss surgery such as Gastric bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy, One anastomosis gastric bypass, gastric band and swallowable gastric balloon. He also specialises in Gallbladder removal surgery (Cholecystectomy), groin and abdominal wall hernia surgery, Anti Reflux surgery with fundoplication to manage Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.
After completing his higher surgical specialist training in Leicester, he undertook two prestigious post CCT Fellowships in Bariatrics Surgery. One at St George Hospital, Sydney, Australia and second at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, UK. He was trained by world renowned bariatric surgeons, Dr Michael Talbot and Dr Ken Loi at St George Hospital, Sydney. St George Private Hospital is Australia's highest volume bariatric hospital and strongly recognised as a leader in bariatric surgery. It is also Australia's first internationally accredited Centre of Bariatric Excellence � as recognised by the Surgical Review Corporation, which accredits Centres of Excellence around the world.
He worked at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust as a Locum Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon from April 2019 to March 2022. Since April 2022 he has established himself in a substantive position as a Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon based at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton and Walsall Manor Hospital, Walsall. He is a key member of the Black Country Collaborative for provision of Bariatric Surgery for the local community.
His private practice is based at Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
He is Clinical Governance Lead at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. He is leading several Quality Improvement Projects at New Cross Hospital including Business Case for Robotic UGI Services at the New Cross Site.
He was awarded Doctor of Medicine (MD) by University of Manchester for his work Basic Science and Vascular Surgery. He has a keen interest in research, especially in the field of weight loss / metabolic and UGI surgery. He has several publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has presented at national and international conferences and meetings.
