About me

Having obtained my doctorate in Counselling Psychology, I have practiced as a Psychologist in adult mental health services within the NHS since 2008. I have vast experience of treating both common, day to day issues and complex, long term emotional and mental health concerns. My experience and knowledge ranges from working with depression including low self-esteem/lack of self worth/lack of confidence, anxiety disorders including stress/burnout, excessive worry and rumination, post traumatic stress disorder, including trauma/difficult memories experienced both in childhood and adult years, relational and interpersonal difficulties, psychosis and psychotic disorders, and personality disorders.

I draw upon multiple therapeutic models which I have trained in and gained experience working within over the years. I'm passionate about tailoring the treatment I offer according to my client's needs/goals and working collaboratively to overcome the issues that have bought them to therapy. This involves me carrying out an initial assessment of the client's presenting issues, past history (if relevant), areas of their life they wish to change and goals for therapy. In my current practice the main therapeutic models I draw upon are Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Relational Integrative Psychotherapy. I believe working within these approaches can lead to positive changes in an individual's personal and professional life, and relationship with themselves and others.
