About me

Dr Peter Paisley MBChB Hons MSc FRCA FFPMRCA, graduated with honours in 2008 from the University of Aberdeen before completing Anaesthetic training in the West of Scotland. He was awarded a Masters of Science from Edinburgh University in 2011 for his dissertation on chronic pain management in pancreatitis. He obtained Fellowship status from the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2017, and was presented the commendation merit award for outstanding performance in the examination.

He completed Advanced Pain Medicine training in 2017, gaining specialist skills in interventional pain medicine such as lumbar radiofrequency ablation for chronic low back pain. He was appointed as a consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Management in Glasgow in 2018. In 2019, he underwent additional specialist training in radiofrequency ablation for chronic knee pain at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany. In 2021, he joined the interventional cancer pain service at Beatson West of Scotland cancer centre and is one of two regional experts in percutaneous cervical cordotomy.

Since 2019, he has also been both the Regional Advisor for Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and Deputy Training Programme Director for Anaesthetics for the West of Scotland region.

Dr Paisley offers a holistic assessment of chronic pain conditions such as low back pain, nerve root pain, sciatica, chronic shoulder and knee pain, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome and fibromyalgia.
