About me

I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist, with an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and 12 years of practice experience. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have been an Accredited Member since 2012.

I have worked as a therapist within the NHS and in wellbeing services in the higher education sector; I also managed a university counselling service for a number of years.

Alongside my private practice, I currently provide supervision and support to hospice and primary care staff in the NHS.

About my practice
I am trained and experienced in providing both long and short-term therapy to adults of all ages.

I currently offer sessions in person in Leeds and by phone/video.

I qualified in Integrative Psychotherapy which means that I draw upon ideas and techniques from humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies, adapting to each person I work with.

Led by you, the focus for sessions could include: improving understanding of how the past may have shaped the present; identifying unhelpful repeated patterns; exploring options or strategies for change; and/or finding a way to live with losses or changes which cannot be resolved.

Areas of interest

An experienced BACP-accredited therapist, I work with adults of all ages and with issues including: depression; anxiety; bereavement and loss; relationship and identity problems; also life changes such as menopause, redundancy, divorce and ageing.

I have a particular interest and training in the following areas:

Ageing and working therapeutically with older people; this was the focus for my Masters and followed time volunteering with Age UK and Alzheimers Society.

Ambiguous loss; a term used when someone significant is physically present but psychologically absent, for example, due to chronic physical or mental health issues or dementia.

Work-related issues such as compassion fatigue and burnout.

See 'my qualifications and training' for some of my additional training.
