About me

I am an Accredited Member of BACP, MBACP(Accred), and a Senior Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling andPsychotherapy Society, SNCPS (Acc.). I am a Professional Member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO).

This is my second career, and I have a passion for it. Previously, I worked in both the Digital and Shipping industries with extensive experience in multinational organisations and start-ups, where I held numerous positions. Apart from my work in private practice, I have experience working as a Bereavement Counsellor and University Student Counsellor in the charity and public sectors.

I practice across a wide range of issues. I have experience working with people with anxieties such as social anxiety, bullying, psychological or sexual abuse, depression, perfectionism, relationship issues, low self-esteem, ADHD, ASD, work stress and burnout, life transitions and identity, pet bereavement, alcohol issues, and effects of those impacted by a loved one with problematic drinking, bereavement. I also have significant experience with loss, bereavement and young adult issues at the workplace and university.

I am an LGBTIQA+ ally, and I am sex-positive. I am neurodivergent-affirmative and pro-self-advocacy (knowing yourself, knowing your needs, and knowing how to get what you need). I am a Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD)-affirmative individual. I am anti-racist. I value diversity, and I am against discrimination in all its forms. However, I know I must do my best to learn and be constantly vigilant and aware of my blind spots.

My style is collaborative, curious and thoughtful. I believe that specific therapeutic ways are effective depending on the client and their current stage in life. In practice, I tailor my approaches to your needs through shared decision-making and an open discussion regarding what I can offer, method, goals, length, and the degree of support we decide best for you.

I usually work from my calm office, a confidential, warm, non-judgemental space where you can safely explore any aspects of your life that are important to you.

If you are considering therapy, an informal brief phone discussion with me will help you reduce any anxieties and answer any questions.

My core training is in Psychodynamic Counselling, Time LimitedDynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Systems Thinking also informs my practice; in recent years, Existential Counselling has informed my work. This means that we can work and that I am interested in your past and present.

Meetings are in-person or online (UK residents), either on a fixed short-term basis or open-ended, at times also as single session therapy, depending on what is appropriate for your needs.
