About me

About me

Face to face, telephone and video sessions available.

I work with clients to try and increase their understanding of themselves and help them find solutions to issues troubling them.

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in and use a variety of techniques to best suit the client and their individual needs. I offer mainly Person-centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Person-centred therapy can help you to unravel mixed up emotions and feelings. The aim is for you to feel heard and understood and ultimately come to a better awareness and acceptance of yourself and your experiences. It also aims to help you gain a clearer picture of how you would like your life to be and the self belief to put that into action. CBT therapy focuses on proactively looking at your problem thinking patterns and behaviours, how they are negatively affecting your life and how we can challenge and change them. The two can be successfully used alongside each other. I may also adopt other ways of working such as Psychodynamic, in which we will explore your past experiences and the impact they may be having now. I work collaboratively with clients in order to give them greater choice in how they would like to experience counselling.

I am able to help clients explore their feelings, thoughts and emotions and better understand and manage them. I provide a safe, confidential space for clients to freely express themselves without judgement. I strive to achieve a respectful, equal relationship with clients. I believe a good relationship between client and counsellor and the right fit is vital for effective therapy. I offer an initial meeting with no commitments to allow clients to decide whether they would be happy for us to work together. If you are struggling with any aspect of your life, counselling can help.

I work from a private room in an office in Halifax town centre with parking facilities. Hours of work are flexible. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a First Class Honours degree in Psychology and Counselling, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which entailed a year of post-qualifying further education specialising in CBT. I have varied experience working with adults and young people.

I am an Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, hold a current enhanced DBS certificate and I am fully insured.
