About me

Dr Gill Townson graduated from University of Leicester in 1990 and continued her training at Leicester General Hospital where she completed an MD thesis on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). She continued her training as a registrar in Wessex region before returning to Leicester as a senior Registrar.

She completed a fellowship at McMaster in Toronto, Canada with Professor Jan Irvine before taking up a substantive consultant post in Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust in 1999 where I held university and regional posts (education) and lead the IBD service. She has contributed to local, regional and national guidance of IBD management.

She is interested in training and completed post graduate certificates in Education and also Careers coaching and remain active in education and careers coaching.

She has worked at Mid Cheshire NHS Trust for past 3 years and am actively involved in all aspects of gastroenterology, endoscopy and particularly IBD.
