About me
Dr Barnes graduated from the University of Glasgow, with an additional First-Class Honours BSc degree in Genetic. Following general medical training in Nottingham, he undertook his cardiology specialist training through the London Deanery with interventional fellowships at Harefield Hospital.
He was awarded a PhD from the University of Edinburgh having been awarded a British Heart Foundation Clinic Research Training Fellowship focussing on novel mechanisms and treatment of heart failure. Other research interests examined vascular responses to ischaemia and mechanisms that may modify harmful responses. His work was presented in international high impact peer reviewed journals and presented at international cardiovascular conferences.
Following completion of training he was appointed Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Ashford & St Peter's Hospitals Surrey, UK and participates in the TAVI program at Harefield Hospital, holding honorary NHS contract there.
