About me
Su-Min Lee is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at the Bristol Urological Institute (BUI) at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. He is the current clinical lead for stones and endourology and started the HoLEP service at Southmead Hospital in 2023, as the only surgeon in the Severn Region to perform the procedure.
He maintains a diverse urological practice which encompasses high volume endourology (stone disease, benign conditions and upper tract urothelial cancer) and core urology with a specialist interest in male lower urinary tract symptoms, including benign prostatic enlargement. He performs the full range of procedures for enlarged prostates (HoLEP, transurethral resection i.e. TURP, Rezum, Urolift) and therefore offers an unbiased opinion tailored to each individual patient.
After graduating from the University of Leicester with a joint medical degree and PhD in microbiology (MBPhD), he completed his basic surgical training in London and Essex before moving to the South West to complete his higher urology training. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2020 and entered the Specialist Register in 2021. After completion of his training, Su-Min completed a fellowship in Holmium LASER enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital before taking up his consultant post at the BUI in 2022.
He is actively involved in the training of medical students and junior doctors at the University of Bristol Medical School and regularly examines on British Association of Urological Surgeons training courses.
