About me

Hi, My name is Sarah Casamassima MA, BA (Hons)
Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, EMDR Practitioner, Clinical Supervisor, and Couples Therapist
Accredited Member of the BACP & EMDR UK.
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor Located in Leeds. At Safe Hands Counselling Solutions, I aim to provide a friendly and understanding environment for individuals, in one to one sessions which I offer face to face via zoom and by phone. I also provide clinical supervision to other professionals. My approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and respect offering a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their emotions and past experiences in a way that fosters insight, healing, and meaningful change.
With over eight years' experience in counselling with adults and working with children and young people in school settings, I bring both depth and adaptability to my practice. I have specialist experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, bereavement, neurodiversity and trauma. I am also an EMDR practitioner, which allows me to work effectively with clients processing complex trauma or difficult life events.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to meet each client's unique needs. My training includes person-centred, systemic, psychodynamic, and humanistic approaches, as well as additional qualifications in CBT, solution-focused and EMDR therapy. I offer both short-term focused work and longer-term in-depth therapy depending on what feels right for the client.
I am especially passionate about early intervention, and the positive impact counselling can have from an early age. My work with young people (aged 11+) includes face-to-face and online sessions, always guided by a commitment to creating a trusting, developmentally appropriate space for self-expression and growth.
Whether you're looking for support for yourself, your child, or as a couple, I aim to walk alongside you in a collaborative process toward greater clarity, resilience, and wellbeing.
I believe that true therapeutic progress emerges not only from evidence-based techniques, but also from the quality of the relationship we build together. My role is to support and gently challenge, always allowing your pace and voice to set the direction of our sessions.
Confidentiality, integrity, and ongoing professional development are central to my practice. I regularly engage in supervision and continued learning to ensure I offer the most effective, up-to-date support. My aim is to empower clients with practical tools and deeper self-understanding, facilitating growth that extends far beyond the therapy room.
If you are considering reaching out, know that taking this first step is an act of courage. I am here to provide guidance, support, and a space where you can safely explore whatever brings you to therapy. Together, we can work towards greater ease, connection, and fulfilment in your life.
