About me

Hi, I'm Dr. Aneesa Shariff and I believe that therapy should feel as routine as going to the dentist or seeing a personal trainer. The mind and body are connected; part of being human is working on our emotional wellbeing as well as our physical health. Research has proven that a supportive, collaborative, and warm therapeutic relationship is the foundation for any positive change (regardless of the type of therapy model). I aim to make you feel at ease with the therapy process, because I know how hard it can feel when to reach out for help when you feel vulnerable and alone with your problems.

I am passionate about using well researched, clinically proven therapy approaches. Positive change happens from a combination of insight and awareness into patterns of behaviour as well as learning healthier coping strategies. Therapy sessions with me are led by you and your needs, but also structured to help you get the most out of each session. I will partner with you to create a personalised therapy plan by drawing on a blend of different scientifically supported therapy models.

We begin with an initial assessment so I can get a better understanding of your current issues and the wider context of your life, as well as your hopes for therapy and the changes you want to make. We will then agree on a personalised therapy plan, with progress reviews at regular intervals. You will be encouraged to provide feedback at the end of every session, so that we can make sure we are always on the same page, and course correct if needed.

I have over 15 years post qualified experience as a dual qualified clinical and counselling psychologist. I worked for years in NHS senior specialist posts before starting my own practice, where I worked in adult mental health, long term physical health conditions, and leading an occupational health psychology service. I also have a strong background in psychological assessment and have a particular interest in providing post diagnostic therapy and coaching to adults with ADHD. I also regularly work with the press as a media expert and am a published author and researcher in culturally inclusive therapy, acculturation and identity development.
