About me

Dr Whittaker is a Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine who has extensive experience managing acute and chronic problems, with associated specialism in musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, and shockwave therapy.

David completed his consultant training programme in London which included work at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health and the English Institute of Sport. He was awarded the Donald McLeod Medal as the highest performing candidate during examinations for membership of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, and has worked across a variety of elite sporting domains, including with elite footballers, tennis players, Olympians and Paralympians.

David has worked as a doctor at the Lawn Tennis Association and has a particular interest in musculoskeletal problems associated with racquet sports. Other special interests include sports injuries in children and young people.

Alongside private practice, David works at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and is a passionate runner, and tennis and squash player.
