About me

Dr Ellen Golightly is a Consultant in Gynaecology and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Her main area of special interest is Menopause Care, and she is fully accredited as a specialist by the British Menopause Society. She cares for all patients with menopause-related symptoms, including those who have complex medical histories making menopause management more complicated, or women who have found difficulty in finding an HRT regimen that suits them. Her other specialist interests are Medical Gynaecology and Complex Contraception.

She qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2002, and then completed training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Edinburgh and South-East Scotland. During higher training, she specialised in Sexual Health and Menopause Care. She completed her Doctoral research into preterm birth, and she also obtained a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Manchester, a qualification that is particularly relevant to her interests in menopause and contraception. She has been awarded Diplomas of Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FSRH).

On completion of training, she worked as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Edinburgh and Livingston. She subsequently took up post as an NHS Consultant in Gynaecology and Sexual Health at Chalmers Centre, Edinburgh, where she continues to practice
