About me
My name is Dr. Kaan Altan. I am a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Psychologist, accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, and EMDR Therapist providing comprehensive psychological assessments and evidence-based therapy for various mental health challenges, whether you prefer online or face-to-face appointments.
Drawing on over 15 years of experience in the NHS in various roles, I am committed to applying my expertise to the private sector by providing high-quality, psychological care with optimal outcomes. During my NHS career, I have supported individuals across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults), couples, and families. In addition, I have worked in various mental health settings, including primary care (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies services), inpatient settings, forensic mental health services, and community mental health teams. I am also an experienced clinical supervisor for trainees and psychologists.
I provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy for adults with a range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders (such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, phobias), low mood and depression, low self-esteem, stress, and personality disorders.
My therapeutic approach is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I also draw from Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to tailor my methods to meet each client's unique needs.
