CBT Approach
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps individuals understand the links between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Core principles include:

It is not events themselves that disturb us, but the way we interpret those events.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

I also hold a Diploma in Compassion Focused Therapy from the Compassionate Mind Foundation.

CFT is especially helpful for people experiencing shame, self-criticism, or harsh inner judgement. It draws on evolutionary psychology, attachment theory, neuroscience, and CBT to help individuals cultivate compassion, regulate emotion, and improve wellbeing.

Additional Skills:

Over more than 20 years, I have developed a range of therapeutic skills, including:

1. Mindfulness
2. Applied relaxation with individuals/groups
3. Imagery and visualisation skills
4. Addiction recovery
6. Weight management

I also have a specialist interest in weight management through a low-carbohydrate lifestyle. I have ran a dedicated support group for over a decade.

Professional Standards

I engage in regular professional development and monthly clinical supervision to maintain high-quality, ethical practice. I am also a member of the PVG scheme in Scotland, ensuring safe and responsible work with vulnerable groups.

Areas of interest

coping with chronic illness; energy problems; weight management using a low carbohydrate approach; motivation; depression; stress managment and imagery; relaxation exercises.

Diploma in Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Focus on function of emotions, emotional regualtion, chair work, mindfulness, shame, anger and self critcism. This has an evolutionary psychological, attachemt and mindfulness based approach including a lot of practices.
