About me

Dr IK Ogbonmwan - Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine (SEM)

(MRes, MBBS, MSc, MRCGP, DipSEM (UK&I), PGCert MSK US, PGCME, FFSEM (UK))


Dr Ogbonmwan works both in private medicine and as a Consultant in the NHS. He is also a fully qualified general practitioner.

He has built up extensive experience of working in elite sport and currently works as a Team Doctor for the England Football Association. Dr Ogbonmwan has extensive experience treating a wide range of patients from elite and recreational athletes across various sports, to individuals with age and work-related injuries.

He specialises in treating all joint, muscle and soft tissue conditions. He is experienced in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, football medicine and exercise and lifestyle assessment.

Dr Ogbonmwan has a strong academic and research background publishing multiple peer-reviewed articles, he is a visiting lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and is on the editorial board for BMJ Open Sport & Exercise medicine journal.

IK is a former 100m and 200m sprinter, competing for Sale Harriers athletics club. Despite his competitive days behind him, he continues to enjoy regularly training in the gym and maintaining his strength and fitness.
