About me

Dr Thompson is a Principal Clinical Psychologist who qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2005. She is Chartered by the British Psychological Society, where she is an Associate Fellow. She is registered by the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL 22851). She has more than 18 years of post-qualification experience within NHS mental health services, providing a wide range of psychological assessment and intervention services to adults experiencing mild, moderate, and severe mental health problems. She has extensive experience of working with people with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety-based problems (phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, agoraphobia), depression, bereavement and adjustment issues, difficulties with anger, self-harm, sleep problems, issues with eating/body image, cognitive impairment, and trauma-related issues including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has additional specialist training in a number of evidence based and NICE recommended models including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). She is also an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner, and is currently training in Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT). She aims to offer high quality, efficient and effective psychological therapy.
