About me

I have been working in private practice for 12 years as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist and I am an Accredited Member of the BACP. My practice is situated in the village of Washbrook which is approximately 5 minutes from Ipswich and two minutes from Suffolk One College. Off road parking is available.

I work with individual clients from the age of 15 years and couples also. I offer face to face sessions and I also work remotely via video or telephone.

I first became interested in Counselling when I was experiencing my own difficulties and I sought help from a Hypnotherapist. This experience made me think about helping others and I decided to look into Counselling courses. I began training in 2008 where I completed a diploma in Counselling and Hypnotherapy skills. I then went on to complete a further three years of training in Person-Centred Counselling at the Colchester Institute, where I obtained a Higher Education Diploma. This course is accredited by The University of Essex and the BACP.

Prior to completing my training in June 2013, I started working with Suffolk Mind as a Volunteer Counsellor and saw clients on a more short-term basis (12 weeks). During my training and following on from it, I have seen many clients with a variety of different issues (over 4,000 hours of client work). These issues include low self-esteem, depression and anxiety, bereavement, self-harm, problems with work, abuse, relationship issues, agoraphobia, social anxiety and bipolar disorder.

I have completed several courses in CBT which I offer in conjunction with Counselling if I feel it would benefit the client. It works by addressing a persons irrational thought processes and any behavioural issues which may impact them such as avoidance. It works by challenging a persons beliefs around certain situations, allowing them to see the situation from a different perspective.

I have completed a diploma course in couples counselling and see couples who are experiencing relationship issues and want to work towards finding a resolution.

Many people don't have anybody to talk to in life and some have very good relationships but dont want to upset the people closest to them. This is why Counselling can be of benefit to many people.

Counselling can be challenging emotionally but I offer a safe, relaxed and non judgmental environment for people to explore their issues. I have seen so many clients making changes to their lives and become stronger individuals from their counselling experience, allowing them to make changes to the areas of their lives that aren't working for them. It's an extremely rewarding experience being able to help people in this way.
