About me
About me:
I am an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist. I offer therapy for individuals and couples, and supervise other therapists. In addition to having worked over fourteen years in the NHS and other healthcare services, I have a great deal of experience working in diverse sectors outside of clinical settings (including corporate and educational settings). I have a creative and culturally informed mindset. This makes me able to quickly understand and adapt to the wide range of problems and contexts that you bring to therapy.
How I work:.
I believe that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is core to help people to understand their problems better and to find solutions that work for each individual. I am a BABCP accredited CBT therapist with substantial experience of treating depression and a full range of anxiety disorders in the NHS with an excellent record for client recovery. I am also highly skilled in other modalities of therapy, including psychodynamic therapy, IFS informed, ACT, CFT, couples therapy and systemic approaches. I work face to face and online.
As your therapist I use my breadth of experience and my non-judgemental, compassionate approach to support individuals, couples and families. Clients comment upon my ability to help them feel immediately at ease and to quickly identify and summarise the problematic cycles and the potential roots of these problems. I have a deep understanding of relational trauma and unhelpful dynamics that are learned early in life, and most importantly how we can re-script our narratives so that these early wounds no longer define our capabilities and futures. I use my own lived experience of ADHD and an individualised approach to support those with neurodiversity or difference. I work with people over the age of 16 struggling with their studies and/or work responsibilities at school or university, where I use my experience as a lecturer and study skills mentor.
I am trained in couples therapy and have experience of working with family systems and team dynamics so I can help you better manage your relationships by improving your emotional reactions, communication skills and understanding other people's reactions. Even when working with you as an individual, we will work on improving your surrounding relationships (family, social or work) where it is helpful, to enhance the benefits of your own individual work.
