About me

I'm Sophia, an accredited psychotherapist (MBACP Accred) with over 5,000 hours of experience.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and the pressures of everyday life. My approach is Person Centred, warm, non-judgemental and built around your experience, drawing on Psychodynamic thinking to explore how past experiences may be shaping your present.

I've worked with clients who've found it useful to use some of our sessions to process events from their past or present, distinguish helpful and unhelpful themes and patterns in their lives, to increase their self awareness, begin to feel as well as think, develop their capacity to reflect and to regulate their emotions.

I believe you are the expert on your own experience. My role is to offer a safe, confidential space in which you feel genuinely heard and understood.

I have specialist training in trauma (Trauma Enhanced Practice, Levels 2 and 3) and a particular understanding of the pressures of professional and corporate environments, having previously worked in investment banking.

Therapy with me is collaborative and unhurried. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to, the pace is entirely yours. Many clients feel a sense of relief simply from having that first conversation.

Sessions are available in person at 45 Frederick Street, Edinburgh, online or by telephone, Monday to Thursday 10am - 6:30pm.
