About me
I am a tertiary centre Consultant Gastroenterologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, holding a unique position that spans both the clinical nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) specialist teams. I also have a wide-ranging general gastroenterology practice. Keeping abreast of the latest research here has allowed me to introduce novel medical treatments for common gastrointestinal disorders including acid reflux and diarrhoea. I perform high-quality diagnostic endoscopy and polyp removals with excellent key performance indices and patient comfort scores, utilising water-assisted insertion techniques for colonoscopy.
My training and clinical experience is both comprehensive and of the highest quality. I have degrees in both Biochemistry, University of Bristol, and Medicine & Surgery, St Georges, University of London, achieving a Distinction in Medical Sciences. General medical training was enhanced with rotations at the Royal Marsden, Royal Brompton and Royal London Hospitals. Specialist gastroenterology training has been enhanced with fellowships in clinical nutrition and IBD at the world-renowned centres of St Marks Hospital, London, and Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, followed by an advanced endoscopy fellowship at Nottingham University Hospitals.
I have led and delivered important translational research on the safety of endoscopy in the COVID era and oversee NUH's involvement in an important national audit of endoscopy quality. I have many first author publications and have given oral presentations of my research in Europe and the USA, winning a British Society of Gastroenterology Research Prize in the process. I continue to be involved in training of colleagues and junior doctors at all levels.
