About me
I am a Chartered and Registered psychologist with 22 years experience. I started my career as a support worker in a medium secure unit. This employment gave me invaluable experience working with patients with enduring mental health issues and personality disorders. I worked as a named nurse to a number of patients offering one to one support and also presenting evidence in mental health review tribunals. I joined the English and Welsh prison service in 2001 and became a Chartered Forensic Psychologist in June 2005. My main role was the assessment and intervention of adult male high risk offenders. I became a private practitioner in November 2011. Since then I have undertaken both risk assessments and therapy. Having worked in a range of settings including, NHS, private hospitals, the prison service and in private practice, I have developed a variety of skills to help individuals deal with a wide range of difficulties they may be experiencing in their life. My experience is specifically in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. I have worked with clients to enhance their self esteem, to help manage depression and anxiety, to overcome trauma, to help with relationship problems, to enhance problem solving and coping skills, to develop anger management skills, and to safely manage substance use. I have worked with survivors and perpetrators of spousal assault physical assault and sexual assault as well as with clients with personality disorders. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and am a Chartered and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. I offer online therapy as well as clinic based therapy.
