About me
When you re feeling confused, low or depressed it might not always be possible to speak to friends or family. You might fear judgement, not feel heard or not want to burden others. Counselling offers the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings in a warm, non-judgemental environment, where with renewed insight, you can begin to navigate your way through difficult times. Counselling can give life a new perspective, break old habits and improve self-esteem, leaving you feeling stronger and more confident.
I am an Integrative-Relational Counsellor and Psychotherapist MBACP (Accred). I have experience of working with adults and young people, from all walks of life, both as a counsellor in the NHS at Claremont Medical Centre, Surbiton and in Further Education at Guildford College of Further Education and Farnham Sixth Form. My integrative approach to counselling is Psychodynamic and Humanistic/Transpersonal, also covering Transactional Analysis, Attachment and Loss, Existentialism and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am an EMDR Europe Part 3 Qualified Therapist and a member of EMDR Association UK
I care passionately about people and their uniqueness. My warm, empathic approach makes people feel at ease and quickly find a path towards growth and healing.
As a member of ACTO I have completed approved training for online and telephone counselling. Online and telephone counselling gives you the opportunity to access therapy via a secure and confidential method which is most convenient and comfortable for you.
Testimonials
'Jo Bailey's warmth and kindness really put me at ease and allowed for open and honest sessions. I would highly recommend her to anyone, particularly those like me who were nervous of the idea of counselling before meeting her.' Geoff, 21, Surrey.
'Jo works with great compassion and empathy. Her thoughtful and articulate summarising gently guides me to reflect on my current thought process and consider the direction I hope to move in. She listens without judgement and I have found our sessions enormously helpful.' Sophie, 30, Surrey
'I was referred to Jo due to mental health problems, and being the first time I had admitted this, I was unsure of everything. Jo put me at ease initially and helped me understand myself and my feelings. I now look at life in a different way. I am so grateful for the counselling. Thank you so much! Onwards and upwards!' Andrew, 46, Surrey
'I found the sessions very helpful. They helped me to cope with stresses that would have stopped me from attending college. I was closed off to the idea of counselling before I started, but since having the sessions Ive noticed a significant improvement in my mood and ability to cope with things' Jessica, 18, Hampshire
