About me

Dr Andrew Maleknia CPsychol AFBPsS is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, Clinical Director, and recognised mental health leader with over 15 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and organisations transform challenges into opportunities for growth.

As founder of Mind Matters More, Andrew has supported thousands of adults, young people, and professionals through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, neurodiversity, and self-esteem concerns. Drawing on an exceptional breadth of training�including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mentalisation (MBT), and specialist autism (ADOS-2, ADI-R) and ADHD assessmente tailors therapy to each client's unique needs. His warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach ensures that every session is a safe space for healing, insight, and lasting change.

A highly experienced clinical supervisor, Andrew has spent over a decade mentoring psychologists, counsellors, and health professionals, embedding trauma-informed, culturally sensitive supervision practices. He is also a sought-after guest lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton, sharing his expertise on self-harm, suicide awareness, and prevention with final-year doctorate students.

His career spans NHS leadership roles, community mental health services, and specialist inpatient units, where he has pioneered therapeutic programmes, suicide prevention tools, and resilience training. Andrew regularly partners with NHS Trusts, police forces, and private sector organisations to deliver impactful workshops on diversity, inclusion, neurodiversity, and wellbeing.

Deeply committed to advancing mental health awareness, Andrew combines clinical excellence with a compassionate belief in every person's capacity to heal, grow, and thrive.

Areas of interest

I have worked in mental health services for over fifteen years, including eight years of service with the NHS, before establishing my private practice in 2021. I have also worked for charities such as ARC (Drugs and Alcohol Agency), Mind, and Action for Children. In the NHS, I have worked for mental health services such as IAPT (Talk for Change), Specialist Therapies Team (Complex Trauma Clinic), Older Adults Hospital (TOPAS), Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Hospital (Campbell Centre), Chronic Pain Management Clinic, and also MST services working with the parents or carers of a young person to support positive change concerning antisocial behaviours. I work with people aged seven and above without any upper limitation.
