About me

Can you tell me a bit about your background?
Before I became a clinical psychologist, I had a corporate career, so I bring a breadth of life experience to my work with clients. Psychology has been a long-standing interest of mine and simply put; I love what I do!

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Sheffield and have worked in mental health for over 10 years. I currently work in a secondary care NHS service in central London alongside private practice.

?I whole-heartedly believe that change is possible; and am driven by a desire to help people make sense of whatever difficulties they bring to therapy. For me, an important part of that process is taking time to understand a person's story.

Furthermore, as a British-Asian woman, I have a personal understanding of the role that factors such as migration and cultural difference can play in the lives of individuals and their families. I endeavour to provide a safe space in which people can talk about such experiences.

What will it be like when I meet you?
When you first meet me, my primary objective will be to put you at ease. I will focus our initial session around exploring what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our time together.

You might be unsure of exactly what you want to work on in therapy, and that is fine. It can often be the process of therapy itself that helps to identify this.

Part of my job as your therapist is to gage the pace and degree to which you feel comfortable to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with me. My approach is to offer gentle encouragement where appropriate and to treat therapy as a two-way process. I will check in with you regularly to ensure that I have understood you correctly and to welcome feedback.

What types of therapy do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?
I have worked with people experiencing a broad range of difficulties including but not limited to: Relationship issues, life-stage transitions, work-related stress, perfectionism, loss and grief, problems with motivation, low mood, depression, social anxiety, generalised anxiety and panic attacks, low self-esteem, the impact of trauma, paranoia, and unusual experiences such as hearing voices.

I have received training in a range of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Systemic/Family Therapy. I work in an integrative way, which means I use the approach or approaches that best fit your needs. I also adopt a holistic stance to wellbeing that is continually mindful of the link between physical and psychological health.

What do you enjoy outside of psychology?
I enjoy spending time with friends and family and keeping active by walking and swimming. More recently I have been dabbling in home renovation and love the creativity and new learning that comes with this. I also relish my down time, just 'pottering' or getting absorbed in a Netflix series.
