About me

Mr Hussain is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Born and raised in South Shields, Mr Hussain acquired his medical degree from Imperial College London and came back to the North East for his Neurosurgical training. He honed his expertise in Functional Neurosurgery at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, specialising in surgical management of pain, Epilepsy and surgery in eloquent areas of the brain using intraoperative monitoring and advanced neuroimaging techniques.

Mr Hussain's current practice includes management of nerve related pain in the arms and legs due to pathology in the neck and lower back. This includes decompression surgery but also neuromodulation with spinal cord stimulation.

Mr Hussain also manages patients with trigeminal neuralgia, patients looking for surgical management of tremor or Parkinsons disease with Deep brain stimulation and patients with lesional and non lesional epilepsy who may require surgery. Having acquired the skills for advanced neuroimaging and intraoperative monitoring techniques, Mr Hussain's NHS practice include Onco-functional surgery and tumour resection.
