About me
Mr Laurence Whitefield is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon working in the NHS and in Private Practice. His NHS appointment is with The Royal Free London Hospital NHS Trust, previously consultant at Kings College Hospital NHS Trust. He works in Private Practice at The Hospital of St Johns and St Elizabeth and The Blackheath Hospital.
His interest in Cataract Surgery started from early in his training and was involved with modern phacoemulsification techniques when first introduced into the UK in the early 90s. He maintains an interest in teaching surgeons in training and runs both basic and advanced cataract surgery courses every year. He sits on Alcon’s Refractive Cataract Surgery committee.
Mr Laurence Whitefield also has an interest in retinal disease and has a large retinal practice looking after patients with age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal diseases.
