About me
Dr Leonora Marshall is a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Leonora completed her undergraduate psychology degree with first class honours at University College London. She undertook her doctoral training and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of East Anglia.
Leonora has substantial experience working across numerous mental health settings in the NHS. This includes adult outpatient, child and adolescent mental health, drug and alcohol, and chronic pain services. In her current NHS role, Leonora works in a community mental health team with adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, including complex trauma, personality disorders, psychosis and bipolar. Leonora is experienced delivering both short and long-term interventions to individuals and groups.
Leonora’s clinical work is guided by scientific theory and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines. She seeks to create a supportive and safe therapeutic space for her clients to express themselves. She is a warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate clinician who works alongside her clients to support them to access their personal strengths and resources, and work towards their goals. She places importance on taking a person-centred approach to developing a shared understanding of an individual’s difficulties, in the context of their current situation and past experiences. This shared understanding then forms the foundation for developing a collaborative treatment plan.
Leonora uses several therapeutic approaches in her clinical practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-based approaches, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
