About me

Preetkiron Bhal is a Consultant Gynaecologist with a special interest in urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, heavy menstrual bleeding, early pregnancy problems and infertility. Mr. Bhal is an expert in advanced vaginal and laparoscopic surgery.
He trained at University of Wales College of Medicine Cardiff and qualified in 1989. Mr. Bhal acquired his post graduate training in South Wales during which he also completed his MD Thesis in The Role of Power Doppler Ultrasonography in Reproductive Medicine. He was appointed in his current post as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Cardiff in 2003.
Mr. Bhal offers a comprehensive service for the investigation (e.g. Cystoscopy/Urodynamics) and treatment (e.g. Bulking agents/Colposuspension/Fascial sling/Botox/Tibial Nerve Stimulation) of urinary incontinence, as well as complex prolapse or pelvic floor surgery (e.g. Leforts colpocliesis, sacrospinous fixation, sacrocolpopexy) including laparoscopic urogynaecological surgery. He has experience in uterine preserving prolapse surgery including Manchester repairs and the management of synthetic vaginal mesh related problems. He also offers translabial scanning for Urogynaecology conditions. He leads a multidisciplinary team in Cardiff which has strived to deliver the best available care for women presenting with urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse in South Wales. During his career he was privileged to do a sabbatical at the Urogynaecology Unit at King's College Hospital London with the world renowned expert in Urogynaecology, Professor Linda Cardozo.
In addition, he has an expertise in infertility, early pregnancy problems, endometriosis and abnormal/heavy menstrual bleeding. The management of obstetric perineal injuries is another area of expertise which was developed by Mr. Bhal within the urogynaecology service in Cardiff.
Mr. Bhal has continued with his passion for research and evidence based medicine and has presented work at numerous meetings both nationally and internationally. He is married to Nadia and they have four children with interests of travelling across the USA.
