About me
Hello, I'm Matt - thank you for visiting my profile.
I'm a Chartered and Registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years' experience in the NHS, charity sector, education and independent practice. I work with adults of all ages who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, stress, grief, low self-esteem, family and relationship difficulties, and major life transitions.
We all experience psychological difficulties at some point in our life - it's part of what makes us human. However, we don't have to be overwhelmed by them.
Whatever you're struggling with, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help you move forward with meaning and purpose. ACT is an NHS recommended, evidence-based form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It works by teaching you a set of practical skills to help you respond more effectively to difficult thoughts and feelings, reconnect with your values, and take meaningful steps in life.
Although ACT is my main approach, I draw on a range of other evidence-based approaches to tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. We'll work together to build a shared understanding of what's keeping you stuck and develop a plan that moves you towards the life you want to live.
If you'd like to learn how to respond more effectively to difficult thoughts and feelings, reduce the struggle, and build a more meaningful life - I'd be very happy to hear from you.
I accept self-referrals as well as referrals from GPs and other professionals working in health, education and social care.
I am also registered with the following health insurance providers: Aviva, BUPA, Vitality and WPA.
I am fully insured to practice as an independent psychologist and have an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Appointments can be arranged face to face at premises in Newcastle under Lyme or online via Zoom.
