About me
Mr Kawa Omar is a highly skilled consultant urological surgeon based at King's College Hospital. He has specialist interest in cancers of bladder, kidneys, prostate, and testes, as well as kidney stones, benign prostate enlargement.
He is a lead for bladder cancer at King's college Hospital. Mr Omar regularly carries out robotic assisted surgery for kidney cancer, pyeloplasty and ureteric re-implnatation. GreenLight laser, Rezum, transurethral resection of prostate. He also carries out operations to treat urinary tract stones.
Mr Omar undertook his specialist urological training on the prestigious South London rotation in several renowned hospitals including at Guy's and King's College Hospitals, developing complex skills in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. Mr Omar, who is on the GMC's specialist register for urology, also holds a master's degree from the University of Nottingham.
Further to his urology practice, Mr Omar is committed to quality improvement that enhances the standards and quality of care of his patients. He has performed many quality improvement projects to improve the quality of care to patients. He also contributes to peer-reviewed journals with urological oncology publications, and regularly presents at national and international urology conferences.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Mr Omar is also a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and a winner of the Anne Savage award.
Areas of interest
Blood in urine (haematuria), raised PSA, urinary tract stones, kidney blockage (ureteric stricture or pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction), enlarged prostate, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer diagnosis and cancer of testes.
He carries out Robotic surgery for kidney cancer, ureteric blockage, partial cystectomy, ureterolysis, ureteric re-implantation. Greenlight laser, TURP and Rezum for prostate enlargement, ureteroscopy and laser treatment for urinary tract stones, transurethral removal of bladder tumour and transperineal prostate biopsy.
