About me
I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in Little Horwood, Bucks. I also offer remote therapy sessions via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
I have also completed full EMDR training and am working toward full Accreditation, which is optional but ensures the highest standards of practice.
I am also able to offer EMDR for young people, but am not able to offer this for complex presentations at this stage.
I work with a range of problems such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, trauma, nightmares, long-term health conditions, personality disorders, low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions and ADHD.
I have a special interest in ADHD, and have completed additional training in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. I am supervised by a Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatrist who are very experienced in this area. Although I predominantly offer CBT, I also draw on principles from other modalities such as DBT, CFT, ACT and Mindfulness. I have additional training in adapting CBT for long term health conditions, ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
As a Therapist, I am kind and compassionate, but will also be firm when this is needed. I pride myself on being non-judgemental, as most of my career has been working in prisons. I am relaxed and you can expect our sessions to be informal, but feel that it's important to stay close to our evidence base and strive to deliver the highest standards of therapy. I am highly supervised for every aspect of my practice.
I do not offer support for eating disorders or for young children as these are outside of my scope of practice.
Please see my website for more information.
Please note, none of my other Therapists or Counsellors are registered with Bupa, so sessions can only be with myself for CBT/EMDR/ADHD assessments.
I now have a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, who is in training to become an accredited Therapy Dog and will be in all therapy sessions unless there is a clinical reason why this would be inappropriate - e.g. it could be a distraction during trauma processing sessions. If you do not want a puppy/dog to be present in sessions due to allergies, phobias or preferences, please consider remote therapy sessions.
