About me

My name is Dr Bethany Brown and I am a Clinical Psychologist and founder of Anderson Brown Psychology Services.

I have worked in the Health and Social Care sector, with a focus on Psychological Services since 2008. In 2015 I completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Glasgow. My doctoral thesis research looked into the coping mechanisms utilised by patients undergoing cancer treatment. I continue to have a specialist interest in and have extensive experience of working with people who are living with physical health conditions/symptoms that are impacting on their emotional well-being. I have also gained vast experience in working with people who are struggling with a variety of presenting difficulties including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, high self-criticism, grief, and panic. I hold a particular interest in working with people to overcome their phobias. Alongside working in and building Anderson Brown Psychology Services, I work part time as a Lead Clinical Psychologist in highly specialist NHS services.

I am qualified to use a number of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Compassionate based approaches. As a Clinical Psycholoigist I have been trained to take an integrative approach, drawing on different therapeutic models. This allows me to tailor your therapy to your own needs and personal goals. I am passionate about therapy being an empowering process and believe in working in collaboration with my clients. I don't view therapy as a place where you come to be fixed by your Clinical Psychologist. Rather I view it as a place where we work together to understand your situation better and to equip you with the knowledge, tools and confidence to make changes that will allow you to move forward to a more fulfilling, value based life.

I know that coming to therapy can feel daunting, and I aim to create a warm, safe and relaxed environment to help you feel secure. I hope that we can work together, so that you are able to move towards your goals and what's most important to you in your life.
