About me
Mr Damian Balmforth is a consultant cardiac surgeon at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he is the lead for aortic surgery. He graduated with honors from Imperial College London in 2007 and went on to complete his higher surgical training in cardiothoracic surgery at the London Deanery. He has a strong academic interest and has completed a PhD in cardiovascular medicine at Queen Mary University of London. He holds memberships to both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians of England.
Damian has completed the prestigious aortic fellowship at St Bartholomew's Hospital London. He performs the full range of adult cardiac surgical procedures with a specialist interest in surgery to the thoracic aorta, aortic valve surgery, and coronary bypass surgery.
Damian has over 30 peer reviewed publications and has presented his work at both national and international conferences. He has been awarded the Ronald Edwards Medal and the Ionescu Travelling Fellowship by the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland.
